We asked the actors of Port Authority to discuss how their characters’ experiences in the play resonate with their own lives. Here’s what Actor Rob Fenton shared with us…

Rob Fenton Headshot Large“For Kevin, the unknown is intriguing, exciting and more often than not, pretty scary. His experience reminds me of when I first moved from Virginia to Chicago for an acting job. I had no idea whether my decision was going to work out, whether the move would be permanent, and I knew next to nothing of the city or the company I was moving here to work for. I was living in a sublet, a particularly moist and dank garden studio apartment complete with mold and rats. In my possession I had a suitcase, a backpack, a computer, $700 and a lot of hopes and dreams. And even though it was a struggle at times, it was a huge moment of courage and bravery for me to just say, “I’m gonna take a leap of faith, and have an adventure.” It was a moment in my life where a different choice leading to another path would have drastically changed where I am with my life today. Like Kevin, all people eventually have to face the question, “Now what do I want to do with my life?” There are a lot of answers, but for me, that first choice I made was the scariest and bravest thing I had ever done.”
