At Writers Theatre: The Price
Joey is pleased to work with Writers Theatre for the first time. Designs include: Uncle Vanya for the Steppenwolf Studio, The joint Steppenwolf and European Rep production of Chekhov's The Duel, and Liquid Moon at Chicago Dramatists. Other projects have included: European Rep's critically acclaimed productions of Ivanov and Stars in the Morning Sky; Marat/Sade for the Hypocrites; Kingdom of Earth for Walkabout Theatre; and A Month in the Country (for which he recieved a Joseph Jefferson Citation) at the Bailiwick. Past Chicago credits include: Translations and Chekhov in Yalta for Senachai; The Cairn Stones for Bailiwick; Thanatos, Rhinoceros & Amp; Dostoyevsky's The Possessed for National Pastime; Bent for Gilead; Suicide in B Flat for Center Theatre Ensemble, Fool For Love for the Playhouse, and Of Mice and Men, The Crucible, The Seagull, and Dancing at Lughnasa (among others) as former resident designer for the Bog Theatre. He has assisted internationally renowned master designer Ralph Koltai on designs for Nottingham Playhouse (UK), the Scottish National Opera, Teatre de l'Orange (Italy), the Ralph Koltai Retrospective Exhibition at Lethaby Gallery (London), and Timon of Athens at Shakespeare Rep (now Chicago Shakespeare Theatre). A native of Atlanta, his other credits include designs for theatre, film, opera, and dance there, as well as in New York, North Carolina, Indiana and the Virgin Islands. He teaches drama tech and design to high school students at the Francis Parker School in Lincoln Park. Nine years of love and thanks to Laura.
