Write On! pairs students and teachers with WT teaching artists to create customizable residencies. This highly tailored approach provides dynamic opportunities to explore theatre and text with a focus on creating transformative experiences and encouraging young people to find their creative voices.
Past programs have included: an in-depth Shakespeare workshop, adaptation and performance of fables and myths, poetry and performance, an aesthetic education approach to studying classical theatre, and devising and performing a research-based performance on bullying and intolerance.
Writers Theatre has implemented this flexible residency program in many schools and organizations including: The Chicago Botanic Garden, the Glencoe District 35 Summer Explorations program, the Schuler Scholar Program, the Hamdard Center, Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, Illinois Youth Center - Warrenville, Mays Community Academy, and Carleton Washburne School.
For more information about our residency programs please contact Education Outreach Coordinator Kelsey Chigas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
