Open Rehearsals March 8!
Kerfuffle, a theatre and dance company for the very young, is Writers Theatre's company-in-residence for the 2025-2026 season. Join the creative team of Behold, a new opera for very young children being developed this winter at Writers Theatre, for an open rehearsal.
What is an open rehearsal?
Kerfuffle develops all of their work in direct partnership with children to better understand what engages, interests and delights them. An open rehearsal is a chance for the opera's artists to perform segments of the piece for children and see what engages them.
What to expect:
Behold aims to capture and amplify the grandness of our everyday lives. Behold explores the story of a day from sun up to sun down with sections of prepared music, improvisation, and sensory experiences. Participants will experience some of the music from the opera as well as explore sensory props and items in and around Kerfuffle's intimate yurt dome. Participants' reactions and engagement will help form ideas for the environment of the opera, which will perform in March at Writers Theatre.
Who: Children ages 1 to 3, though all ages are welcome. Caregivers are required to stay with or near their child through the duration of the rehearsal.
The yurt dome seats 22 people so capacity is limited. We recommend a ratio of one adult to one child.
Where & When:
Sunday, March 8 from 11:00 am - 11:45 am.
