Get to know the creative team of TREVOR the musical each week through TREVOR Spotlight! Choreographer Josh Prince shares his memories of dinner theatre, Whitney Houston and the 1980’s.

What was the first musical you ever participated in? How old were you?
I began doing musicals at the age of 7 in Indianapolis, IN (my hometown) when I was cast as Little Jake in a community theatre production of Annie Get Your Gun.

What was your first professional job in theatre?
I did some professional theatre as a kid in Indianapolis but I would have to say my first “professional” job was after my first summer at college… at the La Comedia dinner theater in Ohio. I was in the ensemble of Me And My Girl directed by Tony Stevens.

In a four-word phrase, describe your job.
Telling stories with movement.

Is there someone you looked up to growing up? Who is your Diana Ross? Why?
I definitely loved Whitney Houston and could lip-sync perfectly to every song on both her 1985 and 1987
albums.

What has participating in TREVOR reminded you about life in 1981?
This show has been an incredible walk down memory lane for me on so many fronts. I started dancing
in 1980 and it has been a source of particular delight for me to revisit the dance moves of this era.
