Stephanie Chavara is an actor, writer, director, and teaching artist. Chicago theaters include Strawdog, The Goodman, Remy Bumppo, Fox Valley Rep, Adventure Stage, Signal Ensemble, and others. As a writer she teaches with 2nd Story, performs, and directs. She has also performed her stories at a variety of live lit events around the city. She devises and writes new creative pieces with young people and adults. Recently she has been splitting her time between Chicago and Montana where she is the Montana Shakespeare in the Parks Director of Education for tours, developing new curriculum and training teaching artists. She also acts on the school tours. She has just developed a series of storytelling workshops for PBS member stations, while continuing her work in Chicago teaching mostly with Adventure Stage Chicago, Actors Training Center of Wilmette, and Writers Theatre. Through Writers, she developed programs at Ida Crown Jewish Academy, New Trier High School, and Willowbrook Elementary as well as teaching the signature Novel Series course. Stephanie is interested in play for the sheer joy of working collaboratively and to stretch empathy muscles. She is a company member with 2nd Story and Adventure Stage.
