France, 1918. At the edge of a forest on the eve of battle, a British tank unit makes its final preparations before rolling towards battle in a primitive, unreliable tank. Knowing that their chances of survival are slim, the men debate between the perceived futility of their endeavors and their loyalty to their commanders. With delicacy, perception and clarity, Nick Whitby’s new play powerfully illustrates the fragility of flesh and, ultimately, the resilience of the human spirit.
