TAIA Chicagooday, the American Institute of Architects Chicago (AIAC) will honor Writers Theatre with three prestigious 2016 Design Excellence Awards for our beautiful new home in downtown Glencoe. The Distinguished Building and Interior Architecture Awards recognize excellence and distinction in architecture. The Divine Detail Award celebrates an instance in which “the expression of architectural theory becomes an artistic medium, defining the relationship between architecture and craft,” which we are receiving for the Grand Gallery Walk. Remarkably, WT is receiving highest awards in three out of the four categories the AIAC is honoring in 2016. We are both proud and humbled to share this splendid moment and unique honor.
