Internships

Writers’ Theatre’s internship program is designed for students who want to gain practical experience in arts administration and the art of successful theatre.  Internships are currently offered in the areas of development, marketing and communications, and artistic/education.  Unfortunately at this time internships at Writers' Theatre are unpaid. However, Writers' Theatre is located off the Glencoe Metra stop and is also easily accessible via Pace.

Requirements
   
The duration of the internships may vary by department.  Candidates should be actively pursuing the field of specialty or a relevant field of study.  Individuals should be ambitious and driven, outgoing and personable, and possess excellent skills in writing and communication.

Development: 

The development intern assists in the activities of fundraising, special events, grant writing, funding research and more. Candidates should be personable and outgoing and require excellent writing/communication skills and computer proficiency.


Artistic/Education: 

The artistic/education intern assists staff with facilitating workshops, discussions and lectures; organizing residences and school visits; assisting teaching artists; and maintaining and organizing databases.  The intern will also help research for upcoming productions, maintain casting database, and assist with other literary development duties. Ideal candidates should have a passion for arts-in-education. Candidates should be computer literate, friendly, and should like children.


Marketing and Communications: 

The marketing and communications intern assists with market research and promotions, material distribution, member event planning and execution and provides clerical assistance and support. Candidates must possess excellent computer capabilities and organizational skills and should excel in writing and communication.

June 1 deadline for fall internships (September-December)
September 1 deadline for winter internships (January-May)
